Marky Mark hit the golf course in LA yesterday for the Callaway Golf Foundation Challenge with other stars like Don Cheadle and Gabriel Aubry. As the golfers putted around the course to benefit cancer research, they also took the time to talk about other issues dear to their hearts - like their families. Gabriel mentioned that Nahla needs a sibling, while Mark opened up about his upcoming wedding. He said, "If we do it here [in L.A.], it'll probably just be us and the kids. If we do it in Boston, I would say there'd be a lot more family members, so there'll be some fighting." He also said that either way it will be in a Catholic church, and it sounds like Mark and Rhea will be surrounded by loved ones when the big day finally arrives.
George Clooney was in Berlin on Saturday night, chatting with Santa and flirting with the ladies at the "A Heart for Children" charity gala before heading to dinner with friends. He had been set to receive an award at the event for his work towards calming tensions in Darfur, but George decided to pass the honor on to aid workers in the region. While in Germany, he sat down with the country's newspaper Bild to chat about his family, friends, and why he felt undeserving of the accolades. Here's more:
On why he wanted to pass the award on to aid workers: "You know, people are just too nice to me. If I had something to do with the end of the Sudan conflict then OK. But it’s not over, we haven’t been successful yet. Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and I — sometimes we accept prizes in order to maintain a platform for our causes. But when I was honoured by the Noble Peace Prize Laureates last year, I found it underserved. That is why I want to hand over the 'Golden Heart' to people who risk their lives everyday."
On celebrities supporting social causes: "It is up to every individual to decide. No one knows what is going on behind the public image. One person is looking for a job, another is building a family or looking after their parents. I personally decided to spend my free time helping regions of the world in crisis."
On what family means to him: "A lot. My parents, my sister, her kids. . . I am lucky that my parents are still so young and active. My father started teaching journalism this year at the American University in Washington. It’s really strange — at the beginning they wanted to have a lesson plan from him and other such stuff. He looked at me and asked, 'Can’t I just be "charming"?' It seems to have worked, he’s having a lot of fun. We all have a close relationship. Apart from them I have my 'family of friends' in Los Angeles."
It's no surprise that charm runs in the Clooney family, but George's concern and generosity are also part of what makes him seem like one of the nicest guys in Hollywood — and even Berlin.

Josh Duhamel looked super hot showing off his stroke at the ESPY Celebrity Golf Classic in LA yesterday. He was even sporting his favorite golf shirt to complete the manjoyment look. He competed against DL Hughley and Don Cheadle for charity, but it doesn't look like Fergie was there to cheer him on. We're sure he would have enjoyed her company in the golf cart, but at least she got to have her cute fiance back at the end of the long day on the course.
Last year Matt Damon and Ben Affleck celebrated their holiday weekend with a BFF family trip to Hawaii, and this year they were back together for a different reason. The Boston boys showed off their skills, along with friends like Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle, at the 2nd annual Ante Up for Africa charity poker tournament in Las Vegas last night. From the looks of those big smiles, they didn't have a problem whether they were losing or winning, it was all for a good cause. We know that the crises overseas are so important to both Matt and Ben, but it's always nice to add a little bit of fun into dedicated philanthropy.

While the weekend's big event is just hours away, last night's Independent Spirit Awards brought out some big names and one very talked-about baby bump. You know, ICYMI, Angelina Jolie showed off that she is indeed pregnant on the arm of Brad Pitt/Robert Redford (just saying). Sienna looked very happy to be up for best leading actress, but lost to Ellen Page whose Juno also won best feature film. Check out all the winners here. Eva Mendes is apparently out of rehab and red carpet ready while, swoon, Keri and Shane are so my new favorite celebrity couple. Javier and Ellen were unintentional red carpet twinsies — who wore it better? We'll see if tonight's a repeat performance for the two Oscar nominees. ROME — George Clooney and Don Cheadle brought their Darfur campaign to Rome on Thursday, where they received a peace award for their efforts to raise awareness on the humanitarian crisis in the region.

This evening, George Clooney and Don Cheadle received the 2007 Peace Summit Award at the Summit of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates in Rome. It's a big day for George, as he was also nominated for a Best Actor Golden Globe for Michael Clayton, but before getting excited about that there were more somber things on hand. The duo was honored for the work they've done raising awareness and money to aid the situation in Darfur through their organization, Not on Our Watch. At the ceremony, the actors were both given bronze statue by Italian sculptor Oliviero Rainaldi. The usually jokey Clooney was anything but lighthearted during his acceptance speech. He said:
"Don and I . . . stand here before you as failures. . . . The simple truth is that when it comes to the atrocities in Darfur those people are not better off now than they were years ago. The murders continue, the rapes continue and some two and a half million refugees are yet to go home. . . . We have an American election coming so this is the time to put pressure on American candidates, because believe me none of these people want to talk about this issue. . . . None of them want to deal with this issue, so right now is the time to place pressure on the people who can actually affect change because we can't."
He spoke to an audience including some of the biggest political figures of our time (and, of course, Miss Sarah Larson), people I'm sure the actors are honored to just stand next to. Clooney recently said that he is headed back to the Darfur region in January. Congratulations to Don and George for receiving this award, and, of course, bravo to them for all the hard work they've been doing.

Well, I guess that answers my question about whether Sarah Larson got the invite to the Nobel Laureate event where George and Don Cheadle are set to be honored tomorrow night. After a quick stop in Milan, the couple was in Rome last night having a romantic dinner. Clooney is in town to be lauded for his work with Darfur, and the actor announced that he has plans to return to the area in January. He spoke to USA Today about it:
Q: What's the plan?
A: I'm not a politician, so the reason I go is to (focus) attention there. So we're going to try to get deeper into Darfur; try to get some cameras in to the tougher camps and have conversations. That's basically all I can do. If you put famous people in front of very ugly sites, people will watch.
Q: Have you been following your pal Brad Pitt's crusade in New Orleans?
A: It's a life choice for him and a big part of his life. Matt (Damon) does that, too. Don (Cheadle). A lot of the guys who are good friends of mine spend a good portion of their life doing this. In some ways, it's easier for us because we have some financial security, so we can say, "OK, let's stop worrying about ourselves and look out for other people." What should you do with all this kind of attention? Should you get out of a car without wearing underwear … ?

George Clooney made sure not one single hair was out of place as he walked the red carpet for the premiere of Michael Clayton at the Dubai International Film Festival. He brought along his girlfriend and although we have gotten used to Sarah on his arm we wanted to pull him as far away from Sharon Stone as possible. Run, George, Run! Luckily it didn't seem to last long. The National Board of Review just named George Best Actor for his role in Michael Clayton so he must be feeling confident about the premiere and upcoming Oscar buzz. Along with this great win, after Dubai George is headed to Rome to be honored with his co-star and good friend Don Cheadle by the Nobel Peace Laureates. Looks like 2007 is going to end on a high note for Clooney - not that he isn't used to the great life.
