Former Phish frontman Trey Anastasio has been busted in upstate New York for allegedly getting behind the wheel while under the influence of prescription drugs.
According to authorities, the 42-year-old Anastasio (born Ernest Joseppe Anastasio III) was pulled over around 3:30 a.m. Friday in the town of Whitehall, near the border of his home state of Vermont, after police witnessed his car drifting across the road.
Believing him to be under the influence of narcotics, officers administered a field test, which the singer-guitarist flubbed.
A search of his vehicle turned up an unspecified amount of the painkillers hydrocodone and Percocet and the anti-anxiety medication—all prescribed to another person, police said. Anastasio was also driving with a suspended New York license.
