The women at the Independent Spirit Awards looked beautiful but kept things more casual with their shorter dresses for the afternoon event. Anne Hathaway shined in her off-white dress with feminine details as many other actresses showed off their flirty styles. Cameron Diaz rocked the stripes, as did Michelle Williams in her sleeveless dress with pockets. Mary-Kate stood out with her shoulder pads and long sleeves and the award-winning Penelope Cruz - who had a run in with ex Tom Cruise the night before - look perfect in a frilly hemmed brown dress.

Meanwhile, the men ranged from jeans to suits, but still looked handsome as usual. James Franco didn't manage to shave for the event but wore his pinstripes proudly. Aaron Eckhart, Emile Hirsch and Blair Underwood sported the denim look while Mickey Rourke had fun running around the blue carpet chatting with everyone. Tom Cruise spent his Sunday with Connor enjoying NASCAR at the Daytona 500 in Daytona Beach, Florida. The superstar and longtime fan of the sport took a spin in one of the cars and had some affectionate moments with Connor. Elsewhere Keith Urban was performing and apparently Nicole Kidman's current and past husbands had a moment and shared a few laughs. The night before, Tom had a special Valentine's Day planned for Katie, which included a trip to nearby Disney World with Suri - exactly why he's one of the 10 sweetest guys in Hollywood.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise looked camera ready on their way out to dinner in Rio de Janeiro last night. Katie looks happy to get away from the chilly NYC Winter in her hot little dress with Tom in his very movie star suit. Their international traveling toddler Suri skipped the evening out but after a long day playing together, the three-year-old could use some rest. Today Tom will be hitting the red carpet for another premiere of Valkyrie but a little work is worth it to mix up their relaxing trip down south.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes continued to tour Brazil with Suri yesterday after spending their weekend around Rio. They spent the afternoon on a private island owned by their plastic-surgeon friend Dr. Ivo Pitanguy, making time to stop and feed some ducks. They're entitled to a little celebration before Tom has to get back to work tomorrow for the South American premiere of Valkyrie; the movie is continuing to do well in the overseas box office and earned its second week at the No. 1 spot in the international circuit. Tom has reason to be proud of his latest film, and he's probably thrilled to share his success with his favorite girls.

Tom Cruise hasn't slowed down his promotional train for Valkyrie, and now he's moved from Europe down to South America with Katie and Suri right by his side. The trio stepped out of their hotel in Rio on Saturday looking all ready for the beach - which meant Loubs for Katie once again. Suri was feeling a little shy but she seemed much happier once she was playing on the sand with her parents and some new friends. Saturday night Tom and Katie went to Sushi solo, and Sunday the family took a helicopter trip together. After spending months all bundled up in frosty New York, the family seemed happy to fit a little family vacation into Tom's never ending schedule of events.

She's promoting her movie New in Town with Harry Connick Jr., and she talked to Diane Sawyer about how cold she was during filming. Renée also showed some of the personal pictures she took during the inauguration, which she went to alone and without a ticket. Penelope Cruz's hectic schedule showed no signs of slowing down as she arrived in London earlier today. While she left the SAG Awards empty-handed on Sunday, she was the guest of honor at a party in LA last night. Her close friend Salma Hayek threw a bash at her home celebrating Penelope's Oscar nomination with stars including Scarlett and Ryan, Ashton and Demi, Drew Barrymore, and Colin Farrell. Salma served tapas and sangria but still made sure to take a time-out from playing hostess to tuck baby Valentina into bed. With the Oscars just a few weeks away, it sounds like Tom Cruise isn't the only one in Penelope's corner.
