It was a motorcycle that lifted a young actor-director with a reputation for trouble to movie stardom back in 1969. And despite many ups and downs since then, Dennis Hopper is still a name to be reckoned with. Rita Braver pays him a visit.

LOS ANGELES — With a raft of weird roles to his credit, Dennis Hopper might well yawn about playing another wacko. Yet Hopper is totally tickled by his outrageous new alter ego, freaky Los Angeles music producer Ben Cendars in the Starz series "Crash."

Yesterday evening's Serpentine Gallery Summer Party 2007 in London brought out some beautiful faces and gorgeous summer dresses. Thandie looked especially pretty, but then again, she always does. I always adore seeing Josh/Pacey and his ever-fabulous girlfriend, Diane Kruger. Plus, who doesn't love seeing Pierce Brosnan? No one! No one doesn't love Pierce! I wonder if Kim Cattrall leaked any more info on that Sex and the City movie, because that's something she could talk my ear off about with no complaints. Don't you just love seeing such Summer-y parties? Makes me want to throw on a white dress and get outdoors.

DENNIS Hopper isn't afraid of motorcycles, despite the final scene of "Easy Rider" where he and Peter Fonda were blasted to kingdom come by a shotgun-wielding redneck in a pickup truck. At the recent opening of a show of Hopper's billboard-size...
Thanks to Princes William & Harry, yesterday's tribute to their mother, Concert for Diana, was a beautiful and memorable celebration of all that she loved. At the event, Princess Diana's (as well as a few of her sons') favorite singers/dancers/actors/comedians all graced the stage to honor her memory. Unfortunately I missed the live broadcast of the full 6 hour show and only caught the NBC special, but it looks like the special event went off without a hitch. Diana's good friend, Elton John, opened and closed the show, but in the middle some of today's biggest pop stars took the stage. From Fergie to Pharrell, Rod to Duran Duran, the concert ran the gamut of pop music.
The event benefited a number of charities, which is fabulous, but for those of you who still dream of marrying one of the princes, Harry's girlfriend Chelsey was there, along with Will's maybe-reunited ex, Kate Middleton, but she sat a few rows back. Of the performances I caught (unforch, NBC didn't show Beckham's cameo in the special -- booo city), only Diddy seemed a little out of sorts on stage, "Make some noise if you miss Diana!!" Uh, right.
Charlize looked stunning walking the red carpet in Vegas this weekend at the CineVegas Film Festival. She was at the Palms with Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley where all three were recognized for their work in film. Anthony was honored with the Marquee Award, Ben received the Vanguard Award and Charlize walked away with the Half-life Award. Congrats to all three on their achievements!
Sick of them yet? If you couldn't guess from Ellen Barkin's dress, the Ocean's 13 cast were out in Vegas last night to celebrate yet another premiere of the movie. This one, which served to open the film festival CineVegas, was one of their series of events to benefit Not On Our Watch, an organization that gives to currently existing Darfur Efforts. In Cannes they were able to scrape together $9.2 Million to help relief efforts in the area so hopefully last night (combined with the LA events earlier in the week) was similarly successful! There are very few things hotter than seeing the Ocean's boys dressed to the nines, and one of them is hearing about all the wonderful work they do. Now I just have to see the actual movie!
