Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon were among the presenters at the 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in NYC last night, where outlets such as CNN.com, the NY Times, and GQ were all applauded for their work this year. When Barbara Walters was honored for her reporting on transgendered children she said, "You can forget all the Emmys . . . this means more to me." Randy Jackson took a break from American Idol mode to make it to the award ceremony and present as well. Tim Gunn was one of our favorite faces at the event, who happily sang the praises of Christian Siriano, calling him the Marc Jacobs of Christian's generation. Quite the bold statement, but we wouldn't be surprised if Christian starts raking in the awards himself in the future.

"Too cheesy," "not relevant," "extremely cabaret" and "terrible vocals" were common criticisms heard from the south end of the judging table this past week on "American Idol." Aside from Paula Abdul's over-the-top compliments and Randy Jackson's on-the-fence opinions, Simon Cowell's take on week one completely highlighted the show. [...] Read more!

And then there were two, and even Simon didn't see this one coming. Let alone Homer Simpson, who--promoting The Simpsons' upcoming 400th episode, perhaps?--did the "This is 'American Idol!'" honors for Ryan Seacrest tonight.
Melinda Doolittle was eliminated from "American Idol" Wednesday, a night after Simon Cowell told her and 30 million viewers that he hoped to see "my Melinda" in the finals next week.
The 29-year-old Tennessean certainly reaped the most praise from the judges Tuesday, turning in three solid performances, including the first Whitney Houston tune voluntarily commissioned by Randy Jackson for a contestant to sing.
"You blew it out of the box!" Jackson exclaimed after Doolittle took on Whitney.
She Works Hard Jordin Sparks sang Donna Summer's "She Works Hard For the Money," but what she really did was work hard for the judges' attention. Throughout most of her performance Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson talked amongst themselves.
LuLu's Back British invasion week took place early on in the competition, but singer Lulu made her return to the studio on Tuesday night – this time, as a fan and not a mentor. "I was in town on business and Nigel [Lythgoe] told me to stop by for the show if I wanted," she told PEOPLE. "And of course, I wanted to. I'm a fan." Who does she think will make it through to the finals? "Well, I predicted early on that it would be Blake and Jordin in the finals."
"Stayin' Alive" was not LaKisha Jones' forte this week.
The 27-year-old Michigan resident was eliminated from "American Idol" Wednesday night after the songs of Barry Gibb proved to be the soulful chanteuse's kryptonite.
"No kiss tonight, baby," Simon Cowell, who was so willing to plant a smooch on her last week, told Jones after her off-pitch rendition of the Bee Gees hit "Stayin' Alive." Even Randy Jackson called her performance "weird" and Paula Abdul said it "lacked energy."
Jones' take on the '70s-era hit-makers' "Run to Me" didn't do much for the peanut gallery, either, with Cowell saying her overall showing had left her "vulnerable" heading into elimination night.
Even before she heard the bad news, Jones was fidgety and looked to be doing a bit of talking to herself, as helpfully pointed out by Ryan Seacrest.
A collection of Jackson family items, including Michael Jackson's "Thriller" Gold Award and stage boots once worn by Randy Jackson, will be up for auction in May.

Thirty million possibly tone-deaf "American Idol" voters threw the music industry another curveball Wednesday night, booting early favorite Stephanie Edwards from the competition and narrowing the already narrow field down to 10.
Of course, it's not as if Edwards was season six's top contender--on Tuesday, Simon Cowell said that her take on Dusty Springfield's "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" was lacking the edginess and youthful energy of her previous performances.
Even Paula Abdul told Edwards she should try to have more fun onstage. Or, in Randy Jackson speak, "That wasn't my favorite performance of yours."
But there were just so many other contestants to choose from.
Music mogul Simon Cowell has blasted the most recent American Idol winner Taylor Hicks for lacking the talent to become a pop superstar. On last week's sixth season debut of "American Idol," Simon Cowell dished out barbed insults, Paula Abdul appeared dazed and confused, and Randy Jackson said "dawg" a lot. In other words, business as usual.
Yet viewers, media critics and Rosie O'Donnell alike have since charged the judges with upping the meanness factor this season and making unnecessarily cruel remarks to the hapless hopefuls who come before them.
The judges denied that was the case at the Television Critics Association conference on Saturday, claiming that the show has not changed and that contestants should know what to expect.
Randy Jackson commented on Paula Abdul's now infamous interview with a Seattle TV affiliate. "It looks like one of those long days of like doing nothing but interviews," he told Meredith Vieira on "Today."
