Michelle Williams has slowly been stepping back into the spotlight in the past few months, promoting her latest movies Synecdoche, New York and Wendy and Lucy, and she recently talked to Newsweek to help promote her films. The interview is both raw and sincere, with Michelle talking about living under a microscope and how she's handling Heath Ledger's tragic passing. Here's more:
On having her personal life so exposed: "It's such a funny line to walk as an actor," Williams says. "There's some great quote I think Dustin Hoffman gave when he was doing 'The Graduate': 'The more you know about me, the harder my job is'."
On Dawson's Creek: "When I was on 'Dawson's Creek,' I wanted to make work that meant something to people, serious work that made people less alone in the world. And I was thinking about that this morning in the shower—'Dawson's Creek' meant something to people."
On how she's handling Heath's death: "It's so sad. I guess it's always changing. What else can I say? I just wake up each day in a slightly different place—grief is like a moving river, so that's what I mean by 'it's always changing'. It's a strange thing to say because I'm at heart an optimistic person, but I would say in some ways it just gets worse. It's just that the more time that passes, the more you miss someone. In some ways it gets worse. That's what I would say."
The interview must have been a difficult one for Michelle, but the strength and wisdom she's shown over the past year really shine through. Having Matilda and Spike Jonze in her life are hopefully helping Michelle find happiness in both her personal life and her career.

Michelle Williams wore a LBD to the 2008 American Film Institute premiere of Wendy and Lucy in Hollywood on Saturday. Michelle also premiered the film in NYC in September and her costar Lucy, the dog, already won an award at Cannes earlier this year. Michelle has been hard at work promoting her many movies before she gets ready to take a year off. Looks like Spike Jonze skipped out on joining Michelle at her red carpet event this time around but as things continue to get more serious with the couple it's wonderful to see the actress glowing and happy in her success.

Michelle Williams and Matilda got into the Fall spirit with their bundled up clothes on a walk around Brooklyn on Friday. Matilda's hat might be a little too big for her and need to be folded up and out of her eyes, but that adorable blazer fits just right. The weather is cooling down in New York before the long Winter, but it looks like these girls know how to keep warm — and from the sounds of it, things are definitely heating up between Michelle and Spike Jonze just in time for the long freezing months.
Orlando Bloom looked handsome at a fundraiser for the Ghetto Film School, which aims to bring arts programs to under privileged students in LA on Thursday night. Also coming out for the event were Johnny Knoxville with his kids and Spike Jonze, who left his girlfriend Michelle Williams back in NYC after their big premiere date on Wednesday. With such famous names coming out to support the school, hopefully it only means bigger and better things for the program, which is helping give all the talented students the recognition they deserve.

Michelle Williams looked beautiful and smitten with Spike Jonze at a screening of Synecdoche, New York Wednesday night, but yesterday it was Matilda's turn to get all dressed up. She showed off one her finest princess dresses with her kid-friendly Crocs for a stroll around the neighborhood. Miss Matilda obviously knows the importance of a good costume, so hopefully she's got something special to wear for trick-or-treating around Brooklyn this Halloween.

Michelle Williams looked lovely at the premiere of Wendy and Lucy at the Ziegfeld Theater in NYC on Saturday night. We've enjoyed seeing her all Summer in Brooklyn with Matilda and her new relationship with Spike Jonze, but she's still honoring Heath's memory as the first donor to his scholarship fund. Elsewhere, Heath's father says that the family has decided to gift Heath's entire estate to Matilda since his Will was written before her birth and left everything to his parents and sisters. Sounds like his family did the right thing making sure Matilda is taken care of as she grows up.

We haven't seen Drew out and about with Spike Jonze in quite some time, and it looks like we may have found the reason. Apparently she's taken to keeping company with Zach Braff - they've been spotted holding hands and making out in various NYC locales. Ordinarily, we'd be quick to worry about Drew, what with Zach's checkered romantic history and all, especially after driving Mandy to write songs about how he broke her heart. However, Drew is definitely one of Hollywood's more thick-skinned ladies, so she can probably take care of herself. Plus, she doesn't seem to get stuck on guys for too long, so maybe it's Zach who needs to tread carefully.
WHEN Page Six first reported that Zach Braff was flirting with Drew Barrymore at the "SNL" after-party a few months ago, we didn't think anything would come of it - after all, Barrymore was dating Spike Jonze and Braff was dating just about everyone...
Drew Barrymore was out and about in Santa Monica this weekend, and seems to have found herself a Kelly Slater lookalike to match her friend Cameron's buddy. It's been a few month's since we've seen Drew out and lovey with her rumored man, Spike Jonze, so perhaps that was an extra brief fling? Because after being seen with this beefcake, she was also spotted with another new friend (his pic is below). Certainly these could both just be strictly platonic friends, but it's nice to think she's just entertaining a bevy of new gentlemen callers, right? Play on, playa.
Fresh from her Coachella adventure, Drew Barrymore arrived home in NYC this week. She was still rocking her party hat and jeans, but thankfully managed to change her shirt since the festival. I know from experience that post-Coachella isn't the most pleasant states, but somehow Drew still looks totally fresh and cute. I'd be willing to bet, though, she went straight home for a nap. We haven't seen her with her beau Spike Jonze recently, but now that she's back in NYC hopefully we'll get some more of those two soon. Fun.

Three months after her split from Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti, Music and Lyrics star Drew Barrymore has moved on -- with director Spike Jonze!
Drew was caught locking lips with Jonze (ex-husband of director Sofia Coppola) on Tuesday night following a cozy dinner at Ivy at the Shore in Santa Monica....
Drew's relaxing and nature-y birthday vacation in Hawaii may have ended, but that doesn't mean she's coming home empty handed. By that, I mean she's got her her rumored new flame, director Spike Jonze, by her side in the airport on the way home. And now that we look back, he was certainly looking pretty close to Drew in the water the other day (good detective skills or why didn't we notice the first time? You decide). As I mentioned before, I'm all for this precious indie pairing and I expect to hear more of their hip music show outings soon.* After all, if Cameron's so happy to be third wheeling it, he's gotta be a pretty good guy for her girl Drew.
Drew Barrymore has found love again with director Spike Jonze according to media reports. The star split with The Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti last month, after nearly five years together.
Despite telling the media she was looking forward to spending Valentine's Day with her girlfriends, she was instead spotted getting cozy with Jonze. [...] Read more!

Michelle's career is certainly taking off these days. The young mom has six films in the works! She's working with some of Hollywood's most respected directors and writers like Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman. Still, she's not letting it go to her head. Michelle knows what counts most in her life and that's her 1 year old daughter Matilda. While she may have had her baby at a younger age than most of her friends, she tells Nylon magazine that she wouldn't have had it any other way. She says:
"I always sort of imagined I would be a young mother. Kids just bring such a natural order to your life. I used to have all these questions that felt like they would never be answered. I'd agonize myself with them. You know, "What am I going to do with my time? Who will I be with? Will I wind up alone? And having Matilda, I don't plague myself anymore. I know what life is like. For the next 18 years, I'm devoted to somebody's welfare. It took all that noise out of my head."
She adds, "It wasn't that long ago that I was sleeping until noon and not doing anything all day. Literally nothing. And now my life's not going to be like that again. I think about it when I go out with my friends for a night and, you know, 10 or 11 o'clock rolls around, and I look around the table and think, 'Wow, I'm the only person here who has a kid, I'm the only person who has to go home now to get up by six to function for the rest of the day. "
She also said, "I feel like maybe having kids young is going to come back in vogue."

E! Online's Marc Malkin has exclusively learned that Sofia Coppola gave birth to a baby girl Tuesday, her first child with her French musician boyfriend Thomas Mars. The creative couple have named their daughter Romy.
Actually, the pair can thank each other's creative prowess for their couplehood status. Coppola met Mars when his band Phoenix contributed the tune "Too Young" to the
"Lost in Translation" soundtrack.
Coppola and hubby Spike Jonze divorced in December 2003 after four and a half years of marriage. Soon after, "Lost in Translation" scored Oscar nods for best picture, director and actor and won Coppola the statuette for Best Original Screenplay.
