If adventure has a name, then it must be...Cate Blanchett?
The Oscar winner is in negotiations to star opposite Harrison Ford in the hugely anticipated fourth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise, sources confirm to E! Online.
No word what Blanchett's role will be. Director Steven Spielberg, producer George Lucas, who came up with the story idea, and screenwriter David Koepp have been tight-lipped about the sequel's plot.
But given her star power, it's more likely than not Blancett, 37, is being eyed to play the 64-year-old Ford's latest leading lady.
Meanwhile, Shia LaBeouf is denying a trade report that he's in talks to joing the sequel as Indy's son.
The yet-to-be-titled film begins shooting in June for a May 2008 release.
Paramount Pictures has confirmed that the long-awaited fourth adventure in George Lucas and Steven Spielberg's "Indiana Jones" series will officially unspool on May 22, 2008.
After a 19-year layoff, Harrison Ford is once again slated to don the fedora as the intrepid archeologist when filming begins this June. And by the time "Indy 4" swings into theaters the following spring, the action star will be receiving social security checks.
But that's all right with the filmmakers who, when they announced the project was finally a go last month after Lucas approved a script by David Koepp ("Jurassic Park," "Spider-Man"), revealed their plan to address the age issue in the latest chapter, set in the 1950s and featuring a somewhat creaky, if still capable, Dr. Jones.
"Indy 4" still does not yet have an official title.
Tobey is hard at work on Spider-Man 3, resuming his role as the lovable and geekalicious Peter Parker/heroic Spider-Man. We were so bummed last year when Tobey announced that he was planning to hang up his Spidey suit for good after the third installment, but don't lose all hope yet. Lucky for us Columbia Pictures execs are negotiating with writer David Koepp to pen the fourth installment of the franchise.
They are just in the beginning of the process, however, and for it all to come together they would have to negotiate new contracts with Tobey, Kirsten, and James Franco. Tobey and Kirsten have already said they're keen to ditch the movie, but without the two main actors, it just wouldn't be the same. Just imagine how the Spidey fans will stand up and revolt - or at least blog and complain about it a lot on message boards. Believe me, it wouldn't be pretty. In the meantime, for more pics of Tobey on the set just
