Ben Affleck's Latest News

Ben Affleck took the stage at the Children Mending Hearts Gala at the House of Blues in LA last night to present the year's humanitarian award to Anderson Cooper. Before handing the mic over to Cooper, Ben spoke about the Congo, a cause close to his heart and about which he wrote for Time magazine this week. When Ben stepped off the stage, he found a special surprise waiting back at his seat - Jennifer Garner snuck in to watch him and give him kisses at the table before ducking out 20 minutes later. The Madden brothers also came out for the good cause as did Marisa Tomei, who has an exciting weekend ahead as an Oscar Nominee.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner both went to pick up Violet at school yesterday as she brought home more art projects she can show to her little sister. The night before Ben was working the red carpet for the premiere of He's Just Not That Into You, although he skipped out on the after party festivities. In the movie Ben plays a man who's reluctant about marriage but in real life, Ben's all about family and being Jen, Violet, and Seraphina's man of the house.

The star-studded cast of He's Just Not That Into You gathered on the red carpet in LA last night for the premiere of their movie. All the girls looked fab including Drew Barrymore - who toned down her blonde do she loves so much - Scarlett Johansson and Ginnifer Goodwin. Jennifer Aniston stole the show after catching Sunday's big game with tweeting John Mayer. Ben Affleck brought his scruff along with all the boys. Drew chatted with us about her desired fourth Charlie's Angel, Greg Behrendt chatted about his dating advice and Ginnifer also chimed in about technology and dating. The charming Big Love actress also talked about an endearing recent He's Just Not That Into You moment in her own dating life:

Yes, we’ve all had that moment, I hope, because not everyone can like everyone and please, let’s not waste all this time making excuses. But I was the other day hanging out with Justin Long and I was telling him that this guy had been texting and all of a sudden he wasn’t texting and I absolutely convinced myself that my Blackberry was purposefully ignoring this one guy’s texts or maybe mine weren’t getting through to him. Of course, no one else in my life was complaining about the inability to communicate with me, and I was telling my mother about this and my mom said 'Well you should call him and you should say that your Blackberry might not be working' and I’m going 'Mom, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.' And I’m saying this to Justin Long and someone walks by our table and says 'Are you guys acting out scenes from your movie?' And in that moment I was like, Oh right, he’s just not that into me.

Famous actresses really are just like us sometimes, especially when it comes to heartbreak. It's hard to believe anyone would not be that into any of the women - or men - in this movie, but we all need a good friend to talk us through any rough spots. At least the movie, which opens on Friday, gives it out with a laugh.

Ben Affleck went from Sundance to DC in time for last night's Declare Yourself Rebirth of Citizenship party. He was joined by Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson, who provided the music for the night, as well as Jessica Alba and Cash Warren. Alba modeled for the organization's intense ad campaign, but last night was about revelry as we prepare to swear in a new president. While some celebrities are pretending to join the Obama support at the last minute, these folks have been supporters the whole time and are finally in town to watch him take his oath.

Violet Affleck got her usual ride in her dad's arms yesterday afternoon as Ben Affleck and his mom picked her up from preschool. She's generally a smiley kid, but Violet looked extra excited to be heading home to see her new baby sister Seraphina. Even Ben was in a happy mood, joking with photographers about baseball. An extra special treat was in store for this morning, though, when Jennifer Garner came along for the ride. While we can't wait for our first peek at their new addition, it's still exciting to see Jen stepping back into their routine.

Jennifer Garner continued her weekday routine of picking up Violet from preschool yesterday, except this time they wore a few more layers than usual. While they went about their business, Ben Affleck was off at the UN headquarters in NYC debuting a documentary short he recently filmed in the Congo called "Gimme Shelter," which you can check out in its entirety. It's the latest project in Ben's efforts to draw attention to the country's ongoing humanitarian crisis, and hopefully it brings him and the people of the Congo some success.
